Ribeiro Selects Oracle Retail to Anticipate Demand and Gain More Omnichannel Agility

Tue, 10/17/2017 - 09:00
Press Release Ribeiro Selects Oracle Retail to Anticipate Demand and Gain More Omnichannel Agility Argentinean Hardline Retailer Improves Pricing, Replenishment and Centralized Management Capabilities

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Oct 17, 2017

Today, Oracle announced that Argentinian hardline retailer Ribeiro has selected Oracle Retail Merchandising, Planning & Optimization and Supply Chain solutions to empower operational discipline to attract, retain and serve their Omnichannel customers. Ribeiro is a family owned company offering household items and electronics that established operations in 1910. Today Ribeiro is managed by the third family generation that operates over 82 stores, the call center and a robust online presence. To stay relevant to the changing consumer, the company decided to modernize and incorporate more technology to anticipate consumer demand.

In this journey, Ribeiro realized the need to adopt worldwide best practices by replacing its’ proprietary legacy software, to allow the company to structure its Omnichannel operations, and integrate physical stores with e-commerce and the back office. After analyzing several market solutions, the company chose to extend its’ relationship with Oracle Retail. Ribeiro will implement Oracle Retail Allocation, Oracle Retail Replenishment Optimization, Oracle Retail Regular Price Optimization and Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management in a staged approach. In 2012 Ribeiro partnered with Oracle to drive growth in the online channel. Ribeiro implemented Oracle Commerce in less than 5 months with great results.

“We were looking for a tool that would allow us to act faster instead of building design interfaces with legacy systems. We needed to improve pricing, replenishment and centralized management to accelerate our response to customer demands. We considered Oracle Retail as the best solution in the market to help Ribeiro to address this challenge.” says Dan Attie, Commercial Director at Ribeiro.

The modernization of Ribeiro with Oracle Retail solutions is planned to simplify the reorganization of internal processes, allowing for the definition of pricing goals, commercial action planning and logistics management organization. The implementation will be delivered in stages by Oracle PartnerNetwork Gold Level Partners SkillNet and Veltio. The staged implementation will follow a prescriptive plan to minimize the impact on the company’s operations and maximize the return on their investment with Oracle.

“With this implementation, we will gain real-time control of our stores and we will ensure that the same information is shared throughout the company, giving us better decision-making process,” explains Attie.

“Our global consumer research, Retail in 4 Dimensions, shows that consumers are open to personalized shopping experiences, communications and tailored offers. We believe that inventory is fundamental to a personalized shopping experience,” said Ray Carlin, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Oracle Retail. “With this investment, Ribeiro will gain a single view of inventory to fully support the connected shopper experience.”

Oracle Defines Path to Open API Banking with an Unparalleled Array of Solutions

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 09:00
Press Release Oracle Defines Path to Open API Banking with an Unparalleled Array of Solutions With regulation and competition challenging banks in unprecedented ways, Oracle offers one of the most comprehensive open API banking solutions

Redwood Shores Calif—Oct 16, 2017

In today’s economy, banks seek to adapt a more customer-centric business model by delivering new services with greater transparency. Traditional banks understand that they must equip themselves with digital capabilities to avoid being disintermediated by new players in the industry. Oracle’s open API banking solution set can help banks make the difference they need. Packaged and ready for integration with any financial institution’s tech ecosystem, Oracle’s  end-to-end solution is well suited for open API initiatives that require design, documentation, simulation, management, identity/security management and monetization backed by business analytics.   With both, the rise of fintechs and increased scrutiny from regulatory agencies dominating industry conversation, banks must look to embrace change rather than simply comply with it. This means going beyond acting as traditional banks and begin operating as ‘platforms’ that enable direct integration from third party applications. Open API protocols have even gained global prominence through region-specific initiatives that focus on end-customer benefits. PSD2 regulation in the European Union and initiatives by the Singapore Monetary Authority, U.K. Financial Conduct Authority and Australia Economic Committee are ongoing efforts to make open banking and open APIs standard.   This environment ushers an age of transparency that demands an open API architecture, which typically requires components from several vendors if it is to be executed successfully. Oracle today, eliminates the need of engaging with multiple vendors, and offers customers an end-to-end open API solution under one roof. It also provides the added benefit of an unparalleled hyper-connected experience.   “Times have changed and today, more than ever, a two-fold approach is necessary when implementing customer facing technology,” said Oracle Senior Vice President Chet Kamat. “Quite simply, the two aspects are acquiring plug-and-play lifecycle experience products—like mobile applications and omni-channel user experience solutions—and adopting open API banking. Oracle offers a solution versatile enough to cater to both these needs.”   Oracle’s open API banking solution enables financial institutions to roll out their API initiatives quickly. Banks can gain new revenue streams, rethink their operating and business models, all without disrupting their pre-existing tech architecture. This is made possible by the sheer breadth of offerings within Oracle’s toolset.   Oracle’s open API banking solution set includes:
  • Oracle Banking Digital Experience: This full spectrum multi-channel solution provides over 1000 fine grained APIs which can be leveraged for Open Banking.
  • Oracle Revenue Management and Billing: Allows the bank to price each API call based on rate plans blended with enterprise class relationship pricing. This provides a unique API monetization model for financial institutions.
  • Oracle Identity Cloud Service Management: A next-gen security and identity platform that helps banks define and manage their API security policy.
  • Apiary: This cloud banking platform can be leveraged to design, prototype, document and test APIs.
  • Oracle API Platform Cloud Service: Manages the entire API lifecycle beginning with design and standardization to documenting, publishing, and parameterization and testing of prototypes.
  • Oracle Banking Payments: With payments underlining most API regulations, banks need a robust payments engine to deliver rich payment experiences. Built grounds up on ISO20022 Oracle’s payments solution gives banks the ability to cater to rich API workloads.

Oracle Financial Services Transaction Filtering Now Available

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 09:00
Press Release Oracle Financial Services Transaction Filtering Now Available Offering includes screening options for SWIFT, SEPA, ISO 20022 and more

Redwood Shores Calif—Oct 16, 2017

Announced today, Oracle Financial Services Transaction Filtering product is now widely available. The solution, which integrates tightly with Oracle Financial Crime and Compliance Management (FCCM), holds the sanctioned transactions in real-time with accuracy and efficiency. The offering enables compliance with current legal and regulatory requirements with the ability to filter against key watch lists—such as the U.S. treasury, European Union and United Nations—via pre-integrated Oracle architecture. Powering the FCCM suite is Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications (OFSAA), a leading provider of financial crime, risk and compliance solutions.   Today’s financial climate demands evolved sanctions screening technology that not only narrows down false positives, but learns from previous instances. False positives can clog up banking systems and result in transactions remaining on hold until a full investigation has been conducted. When coupled with mounting regulatory obligations that levy sanction-based fines and penalties, instantaneous vetting is no longer a nice-to-have, but a necessity. While proper transaction filtering continues to be top-of-mind for financial institutions, many systems are marred by ineffectiveness and productivity hurdles.   “The release of our Transaction Filtering product re-affirms Oracle’s understanding that compliance and risk are of paramount importance to c-suites at financial institutions,” said Oracle Financial Crime and Compliance Management Vice President Sunil Mathew. “To operate smoothly, financial institutions need an integrated Financial Crime & Compliance solution; and there’s currently not an offering like ours that provides a complete package for fraud, crime and compliance.”   The demand for an integrated FCCM solution that combines everything from customer screening to AML and sanctions has grown. Oracle’s sophisticated matching algorithms and data management capabilities reduce the possibility of false positives while maintaining real-time detection standards and automatically generating an audit trail that denotes alterations (a regulatory requirement).   There are hundreds of transaction filtering compliance lists globally that change frequently, leaving companies struggling to find new innovative solutions to keep up with the changing regulatory landscape. Oracle’s solution monitors these regulations in all relevant jurisdictions and possesses the technological excellence to meet this challenge in an automated way with the launch of their Transaction Filtering product.   To learn more about Oracle Transaction Filtering please view our datasheet. SystemsAccountants Supports Expansion into New Markets with NetSuite

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 06:00
Press Release SystemsAccountants Supports Expansion into New Markets with NetSuite Recruitment and consulting leader also becomes NetSuite Alliance Partner

NEXT READY BUSINESS TOUR 2017, London—Oct 16, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce, today announced that SystemsAccountants, a leading specialist recruitment and resourcing solutions company, has chosen NetSuite OneWorld to underpin its global expansion. With new offices opening in Paris and New York, SystemsAccountants has moved to NetSuite’s cloud business platform to help it scale into new markets with ease.

SystemsAccountants’ previous systems were almost a decade old and based on manual input, making them unfit for its increasingly complex global business. By replacing its mid-office systems with NetSuite OneWorld, the company has gained a single platform which sits across its entire global business and allows it to quickly and easily manage the specific needs in each market. For instance, SystemsAccountants now has better capability to adapt to fast-changing US regulations in Chicago and New York, while also respecting local regulations in the Netherlands, France and the UK all on the same platform.

“After 20 years of serving everyone from FTSE 100 and Fortune500 companies to SMEs and NGOs, we are ready to take on new challenges in new markets” said Nicola Sutcliffe, Group Finance Director, SystemsAccountants. “With NetSuite OneWorld, we have gained a platform that can grow with us as we continue to expand and take on new customers.”

SystemsAccountants Becomes NetSuite Alliance Partner

SystemsAccountants increasingly serves businesses that are undergoing digital transformation and want to better integrate their IT and Finance departments as part of their transition. As a NetSuite Alliance Partner, SystemsAccountants can now deliver on this need with the same platform it is using to grow its business – NetSuite OneWorld.

Within two months of becoming a NetSuite Alliance Partner, SystemsAccountants had already secured its first customer, Cubico Sustainable Investments, a world leader in renewable energy infrastructure.

“SystemsAccountants is one of the leading companies going digital to transform its business and capitalise on new market opportunities. Who better then to help its own clients achieve their digital transformation goals with NetSuite OneWorld than an organisation that has seen the benefits first hand,” said Mark Woodhams, Managing Director EMEA at NetSuite.

SystemsAccountants Featured at the Next Ready Business Tour London

SystemsAccountants is the sole sponsor of NetSuite’s ‘Next Ready’ Business Tour’s London event, which will focus on how leading organisations are using the cloud to transform the way they work. From Garage to Global: Buster + Punch Chooses NetSuite Cloud

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 05:45
Press Release From Garage to Global: Buster + Punch Chooses NetSuite Cloud SuiteSuccess Financials First and SuiteSuccess for Wholesale Distribution Industry Deliver Faster Time to Value and Increased Efficiency, Flexibility and Customer Success

NEXT READY BUSINESS TOUR 2017, London—Oct 16, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, announced today that London-based home fashion label, Buster + Punch, has chosen NetSuite OneWorld as the foundation to support its growth beyond Western Europe. With a B2C ecommerce website, showroom in London, retail store in Stockholm and over 71 stockists selling its select products across 27 countries, the company was ready for its next move to build a physical presence in the United States. With NetSuite OneWorld, Buster + Punch will be able to standardise, streamline and scale its operations across its multichannel business within one unified cloud solution to support this continued global growth.

“Our business has gained massive popularity over the last couple of years. In order to keep up and continue to deliver the premium service and products our customers expect, we realised our back-end systems needed a revamp,” said Martin Preen, CEO, Buster + Punch. “NetSuite’s capabilities have the ability to make us smarter. With it, we will be able to manage our operations on a single platform, all while combining data from across our manufacturing plants in Asia, physical locations in Sweden and the UK, and from retail channels across the world, to get the insights we need to keep driving Buster + Punch forward with certainty.”

Architect and industrial designer, Massimo ‘Buster’ Minale, launched Buster + Punch in an East London garage in 2013. In a matter of two years, the company was selling its unique items to customers across 84 countries. Inspired by London’s distinctive fashion, music and sub-culture scenes, the company has quickly grown to create a wide range of products from lighting and home hardware to custom motorcycles, collaborating with street artists, bike builders, musicians and fashion designers. Those collaborations include a contemporary version of the Edison light bulb created with Rolls Royce, new packaging with renowned British design firm ILOVEDUST and a steel candle holder for chef Tom Seller’s FAT CANDLE dish, a beef fat candle created in homage to Seller’s father who saved the fat and juices from family lunches to eat later with bread.

Buster + Punch selected NetSuite OneWorld to provide it with a real-time view across its operations, from its manufacturing facilities and warehouses, to its supply chain and customer service. This will allow it to align its business across all markets and get products to customers faster and at a lower cost, all while maintaining the high product quality and service that have shaped its success to date.

With visibility across its entire global operation, Buster + Punch will have the ability to more precisely forecast product demand and consequently scale its manufacturing and delivery processes to prevent supply bottlenecks. Buster + Punch will also be able to use the data from the NetSuite OneWorld platform to successfully roll-out new product lines.

NetSuite OneWorld supports 190 currencies, more than 20 languages, automated tax calculation and reporting in more than 100 countries, and customer transactions in more than 200 countries. Further, to help today’s B2B and B2C businesses with omnichannel commerce, NetSuite OneWorld delivers commerce-ready capabilities that can help both B2B and B2C commerce businesses to move from siloed online, in-store and phone consumer shopping channels to an integrated commerce solution, connecting ecommerce and in-store POS to order management, inventory, merchandising, marketing, financials and customer service, while delivering a seamless brand experience and exceeding customer expectations.

OSL Cutting Technologies Modernises with NetSuite OneWorld

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 05:30
Press Release OSL Cutting Technologies Modernises with NetSuite OneWorld International manufacturer streamlines operations across complex business

NEXT READY BUSINESS TOUR 2017, London—Oct 16, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced that OSL Cutting Technologies, a manufacturer and importer of magnetic drilling machines and cutting tools, has improved its on-time delivery, reporting and streamlined its financial operations with the implementation of NetSuite OneWorld in May 2017. OSL Cutting Technologies, a division of the OSL Group, is using NetSuite OneWorld to manage financials, multi-currency accounting and financial consolidation, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), email marketing and advanced manufacturing processes.

Amongst its market leading brands, OSL Cutting Technologies owns Rotabroach, G & J Hall and Taylor and Jones and has a more than 100-year history in the cutting technology industry. Based in Sheffield, England – the traditional heart of the steel industry in the UK, it manufactures drills, drill bits and related equipment and distributes to over 100 countries worldwide, to customers that range from small tools shops to large national distributors like Cromwell and Buck & Hickman. When the company acquired G & J Hall, a provider of specialist tools for the fabrication and engineering industries in 2015, it found itself struggling to manage its business in two separate systems. The multiple systems limited overall business visibility and impacted everything from managing sales teams to production to its two warehouses. Moreover, as the company expanded to launch a new subsidiary in the United States, it needed to account for the complexities of a new currency, taxation rules and additional financial consolidation.

The company considered consolidating on Efacs, the system used by G & J Hall, or Microsoft Navision, the system Rotabroach had implemented a few years earlier, but determined NetSuite would better suit its needs. Microsoft Navision didn’t have the manufacturing functionality the company needed, forcing it to do planning in Excel spreadsheets and the CRM functionality was limited. OSL Cutting Technologies determined NetSuite’s cloud-based architecture, unified platform and advanced manufacturing capabilities presented the best method to modernise its existing systems.

“NetSuite really took the time to understand our business and our needs,” said Graeme Swift, Operations Manager at OSL Cutting Technologies. “With the flexibility of NetSuite, I feel it can mold around any business model you can think of. We do more and more customisation every day. That’s what makes it so powerful.”

With on-site assistance from the NetSuite implementation team, OSL Cutting Technologies was able to combine the processes of the two companies into one on NetSuite OneWorld. As a result, the company has seen significant savings in the warehouse, where two separate teams had previously been working with paper-based pick and pack processes. Now, they receive automated orders in NetSuite via iPads. On-time delivery has improved from 85 percent to 95 percent, and the company has been able to reassign two members of the five-person team to other roles. Purchasing staff, who used to manage processes across as many as 10 different spreadsheets, now have real-time dashboards automatically displaying task lists, orders overdue and stock levels, while purchase orders can be created with the click of a button.

In finance, the two companies have now been consolidated into one. NetSuite OneWorld – with support for 190 currencies, 20 languages, automated tax calculation and reporting in more than 100 countries, and customer transactions in more than 200 countries – will allow OSL Cutting Technologies to quickly and easily set up its US operations as a subsidiary and expand into other regions as opportunities arise.

The sales team has also seen the benefits of the implementation with synchronisation between NetSuite OneWorld and its Outlook accounts and visibility across the customer record with a unified system. In manufacturing, OSL Cutting Technologies has real-time visibility into backlogs and bottlenecks, enabling the company to continue to innovate and improve on the manufacturing process.

Press Release NetSuite Announces SuiteSuccess for UK- and Ireland-based Companies SuiteSuccess Financials First and SuiteSuccess for Wholesale Distribution Industry Deliver Faster Time to Value and Increased Efficiency, Flexibility and Customer Success

NEXT READY BUSINESS TOUR 2017, London—Oct 16, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced the availability of SuiteSuccess, one of the first unified industry cloud solutions, for companies based in the UK and Ireland. SuiteSuccess delivers to customers leading industry practices, pre-built KPIs and dashboards, and a path to the cloud in as little as 100 days. The SuiteSuccess Financials First Edition and SuiteSuccess for Wholesale Distribution Industry Solution are the first SuiteSuccess solutions to be offered in the regions.

“SuiteSuccess has already proven to be incredibly popular with our customers and extremely valuable,” said Jim McGeever, Executive Vice President Oracle NetSuite. “We’ve entirely reimagined how to implement, support and optimise a cloud business solution. We’re pleased to now bring the first industry cloud solution to our customers in the UK and Ireland and introduce Financials First, our latest edition.”

SuiteSuccess is the culmination of a multi-year transformation effort to combine the NetSuite unified suite, 20 years of industry leading practices, a new customer engagement model, and business optimisation methods into a unified, industry cloud solution. The benefits are faster time to value, increased business efficiency, flexibility, and greater customer success. To learn more about SuiteSuccess, please visit www.netsuite.com/suitesuccess.

The four key pillars of SuiteSuccess are:

Oracle Utilities, Navigant Research Unveil Dual Innovation Blueprint Study for Utilities

Thu, 10/12/2017 - 07:45
Press Release Oracle Utilities, Navigant Research Unveil Dual Innovation Blueprint Study for Utilities Utility executives worldwide share innovation best practices

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Oct 12, 2017

Oracle Utilities today unveiled a new research paper, titled ‘Utility Innovation Blueprint: How to Manage the Challenge of Dual Transformation,’ which explores how utilities can approach innovation across their people, processes and technology. Commissioned from Navigant Research, the paper combines short case studies with an action-oriented framework that offers a global perspective from executives interviewed in the United States, Europe, and Asia/Australia, across electric, gas, and water utilities. Participants included executives from Avista, Exelon, National Grid, UK Power Networks, Eesti Energia and Yarra Valley Water.

Historically, utilities have focused on core business objectives around safety, security, reliability and shareholder returns. However, massive disruption is currently occurring within the industry, with the advancement of distributed energy resources, IoT, big data and increasing customer expectations. These factors and more are signaling fundamental changes to business as usual. The new paper explains that simply knowing that disruption is coming is not enough. A blueprint for a new innovation path is required, one that needs to be agile and pragmatic.

The research takes a close look at a Dual Innovation Blueprint, a practice whereby a utility pursues two tracks simultaneously: one focuses on increasing the efficiency and resiliency of the core business, while the second centers around increasing agility to enable the iteration of new business models.

While many industries have been faced with similar challenges, the approach detailed in the Navigant Research paper is a platform for innovation specific to the utilities industry, one that encompasses not only technology, but also the people and processes within the utility’s organization. According to the report, utilities looking to address innovation challenges should:

  • Adopt a set of processes that will optimize the success of innovation projects by evaluating accountability by project type, balancing finance with risk, and constantly monitoring progress.
  • Understand which technologies will enable innovation by digitizing then automating, deploying cloud analytics and iterating on new services.
  • Create a culture in which innovation can flourish by securing executive sponsorship, embracing new organizational perspectives and empowering employees.

“Changing business culture to incorporate innovation is one of the hardest things to do. Innovation teams must influence the business, but this can be very difficult to achieve. Increased communication around innovation is critical” said Ian Cameron, Head of Innovation, UK Power Networks.

“Utilities are increasingly facing the challenge of how to maintain reliability while simultaneously operating in an agile manner conducive to innovation,” said Rodger Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Oracle Utilities. “We believe the framework for dual innovation described in this paper provides an actionable model for utilities to respond to disruption.”

The executives interviewed for this research represent 16 utilities on three continents, serving 42 million customers, with 162,000 employees, selling electricity, water and gas.

NetSuite Expands Middle East Operations

Sun, 10/08/2017 - 03:00
Press Release NetSuite Expands Middle East Operations Cloud leader offers support for new VAT, adds dedicated sales team and strengthens partner ecosystem to meet growing demand for cloud ERP in region

Dubai, UAE and SAN MATEO, Calif.—Oct 8, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced the expansion of operations in the Middle East to meet the increasing demand for cloud ERP in the market. With the support of Oracle’s global resources, NetSuite added a dedicated sales team with new leadership; new solution provider partners to strengthen its existing partner ecosystem; and increased customer adoption of NetSuite OneWorld. Additionally, NetSuite will offer support for the new Unified Value Added Tax (VAT) Agreement, set to take effect for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next year with more Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries expected to follow.

“Local and global companies with regional headquarters in the area are already reaping the benefits of cloud ERP,” said Mark Woodhams, Oracle NetSuite Vice President, EMEA. “With today’s announcement, we’re signalling our ongoing commitment to the region and the success of our customers and partners here.”

NetSuite to Provide VAT Support, Enabling Businesses to Comply with New Tax Rules

With the Unified Value Added Tax (VAT) Agreement signed by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries set to go into effect in the UAE and Saudi Arabia January 1, 2018, with other countries in the region expected to follow, NetSuite will build support for the new changes directly into the system. The VAT will impact every part of the business, including cash flow, pricing of products and services, financial reporting, tax accounting and reporting and, of course, technology. NetSuite already has a highly flexible in-house tax engine that supports over 110 countries for VAT, both rules and reporting, creating a solid foundation on which to build out functionality specific to the GCC VAT. Tax codes for the standard rate, zero rates, reverse charges, as well as VAT on imports, will all be part of NetSuite’s International Tax Reporting SuiteApp. Existing customers will enjoy full business systems compliance with new changes in the value-added tax (VAT) rate without having to lift a finger. NetSuite’s cloud computing model and the flexible, powerful NetSuite Tax Engine inside NetSuite’s financial software ensure that NetSuite customers immediately benefit from this update.

NetSuite Adds Direct Sales Team and Leadership

NetSuite is extending its focus on the Middle East and the surrounding region with a dedicated sales team, pre-sales, country manager, marketing and other support functions, all operating out of a new Dubai office, which will be the center of East, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa (ECEMEA) operations. The dedicated sales team has been established and trained to address the UAE and Saudi Arabian markets. NetSuite will also continue to recruit local implementation partners with experience in ERP to support continued growth in the region.

The dedicated sales office will be led by Khaled Ismail, Vice President, Oracle Digital Application Business, ECEMEA, who will manage sales and marketing strategy for the region. In this role, Ismail will manage an organization of 250 sales professionals with almost 20 managers and directors. He is also responsible for all the supporting functions for ECEMEA from pre-sales, sales development, marketing and customer success.

“The UAE has been a strong growth engine for NetSuite in recent years,” Ismail said. “Now, with the additional global resources of Oracle, we intend to continue that growth and expand not only our sales operations and partnership, but build out additional functionality specific to the region.”

NetSuite Strengthens Partner Presence in the Region

NetSuite already has a strong partner presence in the region with 16 partners serving customers in the region. In 2017 alone, NetSuite added the following seven businesses to its Solution Provider Program: Azdan Business Analytics; Trinamix Business Solutions; Wolfrayet Business Consulting; Masterkey Software; Foresee Solutions; UnitedofOQ; and Digital Trends. As part of its expansion in the region, NetSuite will actively be recruiting qualified partners to continue to provide local businesses with a leading cloud ERP solution.

NetSuite OneWorld, a Game-Changer for Middle Eastern Businesses

Businesses seeking to gain efficiency, grow revenues, expand globally and enter new markets often find themselves held back by software systems siloed by department, geography or legal entity structures, leaving them unable to deliver an optimal customer experience and gain insights into their operations. The agility, flexibility and scalability that NetSuite OneWorld provides is difficult to achieve by businesses running legacy on-premise software. Meanwhile, other available cloud financial software solutions only offer basic product functionality that cannot scale and support changing business needs, growth and international expansion.

NetSuite OneWorld provides a unified and cloud-based suite of software that is flexible enough to meet the needs of diverse business models, legal structures and geographies.

NetSuite OneWorld Supports Growth for Local Businesses

M.R.S. Packaging (www.mrspackaging.com), a food and beverage distributor for the concession industry operating across nine countries in the region, has been a NetSuite customer since 2015. As the company grew, management determined it needed to replace its custom-built accounting software with a new, modern system to manage the business. M.R.S. selected NetSuite for its cloud-based architecture, intuitive user interface and comprehensive functionality. M.R.S. is now using NetSuite to manage financials, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) across sales and customer service, inventory management and human resources. The move to NetSuite enabled M.R.S. to avoid the costs and disruption associated with on-premise systems, while staying up to date on the latest version of the software thanks to regular upgrades that automatically carry customizations forward. M.R.S. is now adopting NetSuite OneWorld to manage subsidiaries in UAE and Bahrain.

“NetSuite has proven to be the most cost effective, user friendly system for a midsized company like ours,” said Manu Soni, Managing Director of M.R.S. “We expect to be a $100 million company in three years and we feel confident NetSuite can scale with us.”

Aigue Marine DMCC, the parent company for Gearbox (www.gearbox.ae) and Aquae Jewels (www.aquae-jewels.com), implemented NetSuite when it launched the Gearbox business, an ecommerce business that offers a rent, try and buy service for cameras, and camera and video equipment. John Massaut, the Managing Director for Aigue Marine DMCC, founded the business when he realized how difficult it was to find reasonably priced equipment for a photo shoot for the jewelry business. Aigue Marine DMCC had an existing KPI.com system, however it was difficult to integrate with the new website and didn’t provide the comprehensive visibility into the business he needed. Massaut selected NetSuite for its comprehensive functionality and inventory management capabilities. Aigue Marine implemented NetSuite in May 2017 and is now running both Gearbox and Aquae Jewels on a single instance of NetSuite, managing financials, customer relationship management (CRM) and inventory management.

Inventory management is especially critical for Aigue Marine DMCC. NetSuite OneWorld gives the Gearbox business full visibility into equipment availability and location to maximize profits. In addition, the flexibility and agility of NetSuite is also critical as Gearbox seeks to add fitness monitors to its rent, try & buy offerings, as well as making demographic data available to the companies that manufacture and market the products. Aquae Jewels is able to track 5,000 pieces of inventory across several locations automatically, improving delivery and customer satisfaction, while reducing manual workloads.

“NetSuite has done everything I hoped it would, managing inventory, financials and helping to put process and procedures in place to manage the business efficiently,” Massaut said. “It’s a comprehensive solution that can scale to accommodate our ambitious plans for growth.”

As SKU volume has soared from 12,000 to 33,000, NetSuite OneWorld has provided Jonathan Adler with seamless global financial consolidation across its U.S. and U.K. subsidiaries, and the ability to transact multiple currencies.

“NetSuite has made us smarter, faster and more capable,” said Damen Seminero, Jonathan Adler CTO. “NetSuite has taken us from guesswork to having real-time numbers and information in one location, and there’s no greater benefit than that. It has allowed us to grow and add new locations without ever pausing.”

Jonathan Adler Extends its ‘Fantasy Factory’ Design Environment to Business

Headquartered in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, Jonathan Adler has been the authority on Modern American glamour since 1993. The office is affectionately referred to as “Fantasy Factory,” a cheeky nod to Warhol’s Factory. Inside the vibrant and colorful office, Adler and his team design everything from pottery and furniture to textiles, lighting and more. With of plenty of dogs running around, the “Fantasy Factory” is designed to bring ideas to life through collaboration, irreverence and creativity.

As the company grew, it found that its previous software systems were inefficient and provided limited visibility into the business—thanks to manual data management and reporting in a fragmented environment. The company found itself version-locked in outdated systems that could not be upgraded without significant spending and business disruption. The company knew it needed an agile, scalable platform to continue its upward trajectory.

NetSuite OneWorld provides Jonathan Adler with a unified foundation for accounting, order management, inventory management and order processing – key elements in customer-centric omnichannel retail operations and B2B distribution. NetSuite feeds nightly catalog updates to Jonathan Adler’s ecommerce site, while the Bronto Marketing Platform triggers and delivers timely, personalized communications to customers and fans. With NetSuite OneWorld, Jonathan Adler can also set up new stores within hours, unlike the previous scenario that required weeks of provisioning on-premise software and systems.

“NetSuite is our central nervous system and the single data source for our financials, inventory and customers,” Seminero said. “I can’t say enough about the flexibility NetSuite gives us to do virtually anything. I’ve never encountered a situation where I had to say, ‘No, we can’t do that.’”

NetSuite Helps Shiftgig Make the Future of Work a Reality

Wed, 10/04/2017 - 12:15
Press Release NetSuite Helps Shiftgig Make the Future of Work a Reality The Mobile Technology Platform Gains Efficiency and Scalability in the Cloud

ORACLE OPENWORLD — SUITECONNECT — SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Oct 4, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced that Shiftgig, the mobile technology platform that connects businesses with high-quality, vetted hourly workers on demand, has streamlined its business with NetSuite OneWorld. Since going live on NetSuite OneWorld in 2015, Shiftgig has been able to manage its mission-critical business processes including financials with advanced billing support, reporting, and multi-subsidiary management for its three subsidiaries in the US.

Founded in Chicago in 2012 as a job board for workers in the service industry, Shiftgig recognized a greater opportunity in serving the market for hourly workers that, as a whole, has a labor pool of 70 million in the US alone. The company saw rapid growth when it shifted its focus to offer a mobile app for people seeking flexible work opportunities with the businesses that needed help. It now provides over 30,000 on-demand workers access to available shifts with over 2,300 client companies in 14 US markets and handles approximately 100,000 transactions a month in NetSuite.

Changing the Way Work Gets Done in the Cloud

Shiftgig was intent on finding a software platform that could reliably handle its two biggest transactions—billing and payroll. NetSuite’s cloud-based system was able to immediately meet those needs without significant upfront investments in hardware or IT staffing.

In addition, NetSuite’s flexible platform enabled Shiftgig to meet its sophisticated client reporting requirements, broken out by event, shift and venue, as well as across schedules, reducing the time to compile reports from three hours to just 30 minutes. Shiftgig can now send out automated notifications for past-due accounts across its 2,300 clients, which previously had to be done manually.

The company has also realized efficiencies in financial consolidation. With NetSuite OneWorld, what once took hours consolidating financials across its three subsidiaries can now be done in minutes and the company can easily add subsidiaries as it expands. With support for 190 currencies, 20 languages, automated tax calculation and reporting in more than 100 countries, and customer transactions in more than 200 countries and territories NetSuite OneWorld provides a platform for Shiftgig to continue to grow.

“NetSuite OneWorld helps ensure we have more efficient processes around client billing and consolidation for our subsidiaries,” said Jack Murphy, Vice President of Finance at Shiftgig.

NetSuite Accelerates Growth and Innovation

Wed, 10/04/2017 - 12:00
Press Release NetSuite Accelerates Growth and Innovation Leveraging Oracle resources, NetSuite adds more functionality, more SuiteSuccess editions, more customers and partners, and launches new data center

ORACLE OPENWORLD — SUITECONNECT — SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Oct 4, 2017

Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced more product enhancements, more industry-specific features and functionality, a new data center, and more customer and partner wins. With the resources of Oracle, NetSuite is able to accelerate growth and product innovation, and strengthen its commitment to customer and partner success. New product features for services and product companies, the release of SuiteSuccess industry solutions for nonprofits, IT VARs and solution providers, the introduction of SuiteSuccess to NetSuite partners, and the launch of a new data center in the Chicago area, all reflect the importance and support of Oracle’s considerable global resources.

“As one of the fastest growing financial management systems before it was acquired by Oracle, NetSuite has since been able to invest even more resources into our company, our product and our infrastructure to promote our customers’ success,” said Jim McGeever, Executive Vice President Oracle NetSuite. “Today’s announcements signal our ongoing commitment to maintaining our lead in the industry.”

MORE INDUSTRY FUNCTIONALITY More New Functionality for Services Companies

NetSuite is delivering several new product enhancements for services companies. New profitability reporting features allow companies to easily define their profitability criteria and reports with a new design experience, ensuring services companies always have real-time intuitive, accurate views of their projects.

New change order management features, as well as Billing Rate Card effectivity dates allow services companies to keep on top of their dynamic business environment, reducing errors and improving both accuracy and service delivery to the customer.

Capturing information in a seamless and easy manner from the field is key to an efficient service organization. New streamlined and intuitive UI for Weekly Timesheets, as well as improved time off management ensure a better, more timely capture of information. Providing real-time information on projects equips managers with the insights needed to make critical resourcing decisions on projects. All these new features for services companies are also designed to keep pace with the evolving revenue standards and ASC 606.

More New Features and Functionality for Product Companies

NetSuite is delivering several new features and functionality for manufacturers, distributors and retailers that provide customers with advanced capabilities to help sustain their future growth plans. Modern manufacturers often have their items produced in many different locations, perhaps globally, and in some cases by contract manufacturers. Our enhanced Global Bill of Materials (BOM) functionality allows users to manage BOMs separately from the items they are associated with, drastically reducing the overhead on engineering teams. Each item can now support multiple BOMs that can be specific to a location should you have locations that source components locally. Additionally, each BOM can be attached to multiple end SKU’s, enabling manufacturers to sell the same item under different brands without the need to manage multiple redundant BOMs when changes are required.

A new quality management system allows companies to define inspection plans that dictate how an item is to be tested, along with acceptable parameters where dimensions and additional product details might be recorded. Inspection requests are then triggered automatically and added to a queue to make sure nothing is missed. Should an item fail one of the tests, a workflow driven disposition process ensures that the necessary corrective actions are taken. The enhancements also include role-specific dashboards for quality managers, engineers and inspectors along with a tablet-driven UI for front line workers.

The new Inbound Shipment Management module allows customers who order large quantities of product, perhaps from multiple vendors, to consolidate multiple purchase orders into a single container to simplify future tracking and status updates. Upon receipt, a single scan can receive all of the items in the container.

MORE PRODUCTS General Availability of SuitePeople

NetSuite today announced the general availability of SuitePeople, the most flexible and unified cloud core HR offering. NetSuite is the first and only cloud ERP suite to give businesses a single platform to manage mission critical business processes across ERP, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Professional Services Automation (PSA), omnichannel commerce and now HR.

With the general availability of SuitePeople, prospective and existing NetSuite customers can now use it to enable employees to request time off, access employee directories and organizational charts, monitor upcoming vacation schedules and new hires or publicly recognize good work. SuitePeople weaves people data throughout the suite, giving businesses complete control over their core HR processes. SuitePeople also helps empower managers and HR professionals to streamline employee information, new hires, employee onboarding, promotions and compensation changes.

More Planning and Budgeting Functionality

NetSuite announced the release of the Oracle NetSuite Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS). The new product gives NetSuite customers sophisticated financial planning and budgeting capabilities across lines of businesses with flexible and customizable deployment options. Oracle NetSuite PBCS facilitates both company-wide and departmental financial planning with modeling capabilities, approval workflows and reporting within one collaborative scalable solution. With PBCS, customers can reduce planning cycle times, improve forecast accuracy, centralize the budget with forecast and actual information in one place, and drill across the budget and forecast to see the impact on business performance with “what if” analysis and flexible modeling in an intuitive user interface.

MORE CUSTOMER AND PARTNER SUCCESS Delivering More SuiteSuccess Editions for More Industries Since the launch of 12 SuiteSuccess editions for 8 industries earlier this year, NetSuite has continued that momentum by delivering three more editions for nonprofit and services organizations.

The key components of the new editions include:

  • Tailored roles with built-in workflows specific to the industries including CEO, grants administrator, development director, project manager and more.
  • Industry leading best practices built into the system spanning grants management, donor and constituent management, or project management, resource management and billing workflows designed for services organizations.
  • Pre-built KPIs and reports, more than 150 including FASB reporting to help organizations comply with new accounting standards.

SuiteSuccess is the culmination of a multi-year transformation effort to combine the NetSuite unified suite, 20 years of industry leading practices, a new customer engagement model, and business optimization methods into a unified, industry cloud solution. SuiteSuccess was engineered to solve unique industry challenges that historically have limited a company’s ability to grow, scale and adapt to change. Most ERP vendors have tried to solve the industry solution problem with templates, rapid implementation methodologies, and custom code. NetSuite took a holistic approach to the problem and productized domain knowledge, leading practices, KPI’s, and an agile approach to product adoption. The benefits of this are faster time to value, increased business efficiency, flexibility, and greater customer success. To learn more about SuiteSuccess, please visit www.netsuite.com/suitesuccess.

NetSuite has made SuiteSuccess for SDN training available to all SDN members, as well as an SDN SuiteSuccess Playbook and templates for the development of leading practices. The SuiteSuccess for SDN program parallels “Built for NetSuite,” an SDN initiative introduced in 2013 that verifies that SuiteApps meet NetSuite standards for architecture, development and security.

Customers and Partners Get Ready for Next with NetSuite
Many fast growing, innovative companies adopt NetSuite to ready themselves for next while partners select NetSuite as their choice of cloud ERP, capitalizing on the revenue opportunities of the cloud. Customers announced today include Shiftgig, the mobile technology platform that connects businesses with high-quality, vetted hourly workers on demand, and Jonathan Adler, a home furnishings designer. NetSuite also announced a new partner, Moss Adams, one of the largest accounting, consulting and wealth management firms in the U.S.

MORE INFRASTRUCTURE Unveiling New Data Center in the Chicago Area

NetSuite today unveiled a new data center in the Chicago area, built on the latest, most powerful hardware to help support NetSuite customers around the globe. The addition of a new data center enables NetSuite to provide better load balance across data centers and improved performance for customers. The new data center, thanks to the incredible Oracle infrastructure, was up and running with live customers in just 18 weeks. It is the first of many that are planned to be rolled out in the next twelve months.

Oracle Transforms IT Security and Management with New Machine Learning Capabilities

Tue, 10/03/2017 - 19:55
Press Release Oracle Transforms IT Security and Management with New Machine Learning Capabilities Oracle Delivers Superior Security and Management When Compared to Splunk

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

Watch Larry Ellison's keynote

Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison today demonstrated new cyber security machine learning capabilities that transform IT security and management. The new machine learning powered security capabilities form an integral part of enhancements to Oracle Management Cloud, a complete and integrated solution for IT security and management that enables organizations to monitor and analyze their operational and security data in a single solution.

“Existing approaches to security and management are no longer sufficient, which is why the headlines are now full of security breaches and performance outages,” said Ellison. “Our vision for security and management is very simple. We need all of the data in one place. We need purpose-built machine learning that can be used by security and operations professionals, not data scientists. We need automated remediation that does not require human effort. And that’s what we’ve built with Oracle Management Cloud.”

Ellison contrasted Oracle Management Cloud with the security and management capabilities delivered by Splunk. The analysis highlighted that Splunk lacks the key data needed for operations and optimal security.

  • Oracle Management Cloud delivers a complete data architecture through a unified entity model that spans topology, associations, telemetry and threats. In contrast, Splunk has no real entity model and leaves data in many disparate vendor silos.
  • Oracle Management Cloud provides real-time insight through out-of-the-box applied machine learning that is easy to operate and use. In contrast, Splunk provides a machine learning toolkit that requires data scientists.
  • Oracle Management Cloud delivers integrated and automated remediation that helps eliminate human error. In contrast, Splunk has no remediation capability.

Quotes from Larry Ellison’s Keynote Presentation
  • “Companies are losing the cyber war. And it gets worse every year. Companies have to defend themselves against nation-states who are stealing their data, and very sophisticated cyber criminals who are stealing their data.”
  • “We have to reprioritize and re-think about how we defend our information. We need new systems. It can't be our people versus their computers. We're going to lose that war. It's got to be our computers versus their computers. And make no mistake: it's a war.”
  • “The way to secure our data, the way to prevent data theft is more automation. And we need a cyber defense system that automatically detects vulnerabilities and attacks.”
  • “And these two systems, the Oracle Autonomous Database and our highly, highly automated cyber defense systems are designed to stop data theft.”
  • “The Autonomous Database and our automated security system, is based on a new technology called machine learning. Machine learning is the most important new technology to show up for a long time. It looks at all of these logons with all the IP addresses and URLs, distinguishes normal behavior from abnormal, risky behavior.”
  • “The database automatically provisions itself, upgrades itself, patches itself, backs itself up, and tunes itself while running. And because there is no human intervention, there is no human error.”
  • “The Oracle Management Cloud has a unified data architecture. Manage anyone's technology -- on-premise, other clouds, our cloud, no integration required. We engineered all of these pieces to fit together. We unify the data, we analyze the data, we detect the anomalies and we automatically remediate it. It's one system. And it's relatively easy to use, much easier to use than the other systems.”
  • “It is not simply an analytical system, like Splunk. It is a security monitoring and management system designed to detect and remediate the problem.”

Oracle President Thomas Kurian Highlights Oracle’s Cloud Innovation at Oracle OpenWorld 2017

Tue, 10/03/2017 - 19:29
Press Release Oracle President Thomas Kurian Highlights Oracle’s Cloud Innovation at Oracle OpenWorld 2017 Demonstrates Cutting-Edge Developments Across Oracle’s Next-Generation Cloud Platform, Including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and DaaS Enhancements

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

Watch Thomas Kurian's keynote

At Oracle OpenWorld 2017, Thomas Kurian, Oracle president of product development, showcased game-changing new services and enhancements across the Oracle Cloud Platform. Providing customers a unique advantage, Oracle is the only cloud provider to deliver a complete cloud portfolio, spanning IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and Data as a Service (DaaS). With deep product knowledge, integration, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) built into every layer of the stack, customers can speed innovation with unmatched choice, cost and performance.

Kurian demonstrated several of these new services on stage, showing how customers can transform business with Oracle’s cloud services. New cloud innovations spanning infrastructure, analytics, data management, and applications showcased in the session included:

  • Infrastructure as a Service: With built-in servers, storage, networking and supporting cloud services (such as load balancing and DNS), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides the foundation for customer innovation. As Kurian demonstrated in a number of scenarios, the platform was architected from the ground-up to provide the fastest compute, fastest GPUs, and fastest block storage to drive unmatched performance, predictability and lower costs for even the most intense enterprise workloads. Kurian also introduced new network capabilities including a Public Cloud Service offering 25 gigabit Ethernet to the host with a global scale elastic DNS Service.

Providing customers ultimate choice in how they deploy their architecture, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure enables customers to maintain visibility into their on-premises systems and extend them to the cloud. Kurian highlighted new developments in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure—including enhancements to Compute, Storage, Networking and edge capabilities—offering IT operations, developers and researchers infrastructure services optimized for production-ready enterprise applications.
  • Platform as a Service: Oracle’s PaaS offerings serve as the underlying foundation for developing, integrating, monitoring, securing and optimizing applications with newly built-in AI and machine learning powered tools. Kurian shared Oracle’s vision for the future of PaaS where software automatically learns, manages, tunes and scales to meet changing compute needs. Kurian also discussed the world’s first autonomous database cloud. Powered by the newly announced Oracle Database 18c, the next generation of its industry-leading database, Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud eliminates complexity, human error, and manual tuning, making it easy for customers to provision and operate databases with lower administration costs and freeing them up to focus on other critical business tasks. Also noted was the latest generation of Oracle Exadata (X7); new innovations in the Oracle Big Data Cloud Platform with new artificial Intelligence, data lake and data integration capabilities; and leading-edge new cyber security and systems management solutions.
  • Application Development Cloud Services: Oracle gives customers unparalleled choices when it comes to open source tools, programming languages, and data management platforms that meet desired price-performance needs. This enables customers to preserve existing investments and increase productivity, while eliminating costly learning curves and dramatically reducing integration costs. Kurian discussed major advancements to the Oracle Application Development Platform—highlighting how Oracle is making it even more open, modern and easy to use with container-native development and high scale, fully managed Docker and Kubernetes services; expanded polyglot support; and a new intelligent chatbot platform. He also showcased Oracle’s newly announced serverless computing offering. Based on open-source project Fn, the service helps customers reduce cloud infrastructure and management costs by only paying for the time their functions are running, and not for the entire time the cloud compute is on and sitting idle.
  • Software as a Service: Helping companies operate more intelligently and effectively—whether it’s closing the books, serving employees or engaging with customers—Oracle has built-in AI capabilities across its application suite. No matter what the business opportunity or issue, Oracle is the only vendor to offer customers a complete and connected application suite to run an entire business in the cloud. Offering intuitive UIs and embedded collaboration—amplified with new developments in machine learning, AI and Internet of Things (IoT) and chatbots connectivity—Oracle’s suite of cloud applications help customers better connect critical business functions and accelerate intelligent outcomes. Kurian highlighted new AI SaaS capabilities for finance, human resources, supply chain, marketing, commerce, sales and customer service professionals. He also demonstrated how companies can integrate core elements of the Oracle stack to transform business, such as building next-generation applications with built-in Blockchain capabilities.
  • Data as a Service: Powering Oracle Adaptive Intelligent Apps, Oracle Data Cloud enables them to learn, react and adapt in real time based on historical and dynamic customer data. This empowers marketers to quickly identify audiences, connecting their behaviors across devices and platforms—so they can deliver the right message, to the right customer—at the right time. Oracle Data Cloud, which is the largest data marketplace in the world, features a collection of more than 5 billion global consumer and business IDs and more than 7.5 trillion data points collected monthly.
  Quotes from Thomas Kurian
  • “I am incredibly proud of the work our development organization has done these last 10 years to bring you the Oracle Cloud, and to introduce all these new innovations that we showed you today.”
  • “Over 10 years ago when we started building the Oracle Cloud, we had a very simple mission: we wanted any person anywhere in the world to be able to access and use our software. And all that they would need is an Internet browser or a phone.”
  • “Here at OpenWorld we’re going provide a glimpse of the future of Oracle and how we’re infusing new technology in autonomous computing, artificial intelligence, IoT, blockchain and new forms of human interface into our cloud offerings.”
  • “We’re doing this to give you, our customers and developers, a canvas on which you can paint your vision and your ambitions and dreams, to use information technology in a new way, in a fundamentally new way, to transform your organization, your companies and the world.”
  • “We’re introducing amazing technology in the infrastructure layer. So you can get world-class infrastructure delivered to you through a browser.”
  • “The vision for platform-as-a-service was to eliminate the next barrier to technology adoption by our customers. And that was to eliminate all the mundane, manual labor that human beings needed to do in order to use Oracle technology.”
  • “Our vision for the human interface for applications is to become seamless for humans. No longer is it just web and mobile screens, but you could speak to the application. You can interact with it with messaging. You can take pictures and we can identify images, compare them with other things, and automate transactions.”

Press Release Oracle Announces Industry’s First Cloud-Native, Intelligent Security and Management Suite Latest Oracle Identity SOC Cybersecurity Offerings Dramatically Reduce Time to Detect and Mitigate Threats

Expanded Oracle Management Cloud Suites Provide Integrated Monitoring and Automated Remediation for Production Performance Issues in Fast-moving DevOps Environments
Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 3, 2017

Building on its multi-year investment to define and provide the next generation of cyber security and systems management solutions, Oracle today announced the availability of the industry’s first cloud-native, intelligent security and management suite. This new set of integrated suites—Oracle Identity Security Operations Center (SOC) portfolio of services and Oracle Management Cloud—will help enterprises forecast, reduce, detect, and resolve cybersecurity threats and assist in efforts to remediate application and infrastructure performance issues.

By using artificial intelligence to both analyze a unified data set consisting of the full breadth of security and operational telemetry as well as provide automated remediation, Oracle’s integrated suite enables customers to quickly adapt their security and operational posture as their risk landscape changes. This application of machine learning can potentially help thwart attacks, reduce the detection window from months to minutes, and more quickly address security breaches and performance outages.

“In the past few years, we’ve witnessed explosive growth in the rate of application change, as well as in the sophistication of security threats, which together have completely overrun traditional rules-based, siloed enterprise approaches to security and management,” said Prakash Ramamurthy, senior vice president, Security and Systems Management, Oracle. “Organizations must take a fresh look at their security and management from the ground up or risk ever-more costly breaches and outages. Our goal was to make this process as seamless as possible for customers by building a powerful, cloud-native suite that marries a comprehensive, unified data tier with intelligence provided by purpose-built machine learning. The suite provides value in minutes, and can scale to become the nerve center of an enterprise’s security and management efforts.”

Unique Combination of Unified Security and Management Data with Purpose-Built Machine Learning

Adaptive, intelligent security and systems management services from Oracle are designed for security and operations professionals. Users will also be able to access analytic conclusions from highly-tuned machine learning—informed by a comprehensive operational and security data set—without any additional work required. In addition, as a service delivered through Oracle Cloud, users can leverage constantly evolving analytic engines based on real-world data.

To ensure the machine learning algorithm has quality and breadth of data to deliver actionable insights, Oracle Management Cloud provides a single, unified model that allows for both massive raw data ingest and context-based enrichment, as well as automated remediation capabilities. This makes Oracle Management Cloud the ideal solution for the next-generation, machine learning-enabled security and management enterprise.

New Capabilities Empower the Identity Security Operations Center

The foundation of Oracle’s Identity SOC offering is the newly-released Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service. This provides security incident and event management (SIEM), as well as user and entity behavioral analytics (UEBA), powered by cloud activity monitoring and threat detection from Oracle CASB Cloud Service, identity context from Oracle Identity Cloud Service and the entire breadth of operational telemetry and logs from Oracle Management Cloud. Since the SIEM has access to the entire breadth of security and operational telemetry, customers benefit from a context-aware single pane of glass to secure heterogeneous, public and hybrid cloud environments. Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service is now generally available.

The new Oracle Configuration and Compliance Cloud Service is also available, helping customers ensure continuous compliance that’s fully integrated with DevOps and aligned with regulatory environments like the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

To help organizations continue to secure their cloud estates, Oracle has also expanded Oracle CASB Cloud Service threat detection and data protection capabilities. Oracle CASB Cloud Service now offers enhanced data security for both structured and unstructured data with new built-in Data Loss Prevention features, improved threat prevention with new anti-malware and anti-ransomware capabilities, and the ability to share its analytic conclusions across Oracle’s Identity SOC portfolio.

Oracle also continues to build on its longstanding leadership in the area of Identity and Access Management, a key part of the Identity SOC portfolio. As part of Oracle’s commitment to drive the identity industry forward, it has become a founding member of IDPro, a professional organization for identity practitioners that reflects their growing importance to security fabric and brings identity on par with security and privacy professional organizations. In addition, Oracle, is working with other industry vendors to drive the OpenID RISC working group to define standards for crowd-sourced risk feeds between major CSPs.

Adaptive, Intelligent Management Platform Services

Building on the explosive growth and adoption Oracle has seen since Oracle Management Cloud’s introduction in 2015, Oracle has enhanced its offerings with the launch of two new suites and one brand-new service, all of which leverage the adaptive, intelligent and unified platform.

The new Oracle Management Cloud suite combines Oracle Management Cloud, Oracle Application Performance Monitoring Service, and Oracle Infrastructure Monitoring Cloud Service. The combination of these two services allows for real-time, proactive monitoring and outage prevention for heterogeneous applications whether deployed across clouds or on-premises, with visibility, diagnostics and remediation from web or mobile end-user down to line of code or SQL.

The new Oracle Management Cloud suite includes the Standard Edition services, plus Oracle IT Analytics Cloud Service for estate-wide planning and the new Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service. Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service executes tasks at hyper cloud scale automating any process by calling REST, scripts, or third-party automation frameworks. Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service can apply automation on both on-premises and cloud infrastructure and leverages Oracle Management Cloud’s unified platform for its analytics and decisioning engine. With the new Oracle Orchestration Cloud Service, customers can choose to automate the entire problem identification and resolution process using machine learning.

Finally, in the crucial area of log management, Oracle has expanded Oracle Log Analytics Cloud Service to allow organizations to monitor, aggregate and analyze both security and operational logs from a wide variety of on-premises and cloud technologies, ensuring that each customer’s log management effort yields maximum value to both security and operations teams.

“The major benefit of Oracle Management Cloud is monitoring the infrastructure, user experience, usage of our capacity and compute centrally from one location, whereas earlier we used to have to monitor from 13 locations,” said Pavan Tsunduru, CIO at Adani Ports. “Oracle Management Cloud, with its machine learning capabilities, is going to enhance efforts to tell us proactively when there is any issue which is going to happen. We have now also started a pilot of Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service and the initial pilot has shown tremendous results, far greater than what is humanly possible.”

Oracle Provides the Data that Powers Bloodhound

Today, Oracle President of Product Development Thomas Kurian announced on stage that Oracle Academy will join forces with Bloodhound SSC Education Ltd., A non-profit organization established by the Bloodhound Project, to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The collaboration connects Oracle Academy’s computer science curriculum with the technology behind the Bloodhound supersonic car project, which aims to smash the 1,000 mph world land speed record.

Earlier this year, Oracle announced that the Bloodhound Project selected Oracle Cloud to collect, analyze, and broadcast data from more than 500 real-time sensors installed on the Bloodhound Supersonic Car to classrooms around the world. This information gives students a detailed look at how technology is rocketing the world’s fastest land vehicle towards 1,000 mph, as well as provides Bloodhound engineers with valuable data to continually optimize the supersonic car’s performance.

Oracle Academy and the Bloodhound Education Programme will team up to make available two projects designed to help students build engineering knowledge, data analysis, and Java programming skills. The projects will leverage Oracle Academy’s Alice and Greenfoot workshops, introducing new content and data from the Bloodhound Project. The Alice-based project challenges students to create an animated virtual version of the Bloodhound team’s desert camp. In the Greenfoot-based project, students learn how to adjust engineering variables of the car design and test their impact on speed. The Bloodhound-themed Oracle Academy projects will be available to classrooms and computing clubs throughout 120 countries.

“Students still need a strong base in maths and physics, but this is a digital world and it’s equally important that they develop a taste for computer skills if they are to thrive in the modern workforce,” said Chris Fairhead, Chairman of the Bloodhound Education Programme. “Through our alliance with Oracle Academy, we have added this crucial piece of the puzzle to our education programme and are already seeing a great deal of interest from the teachers and schools we work with.”

Over the next three years, Oracle Academy will train 150 of Bloodhound’s volunteer teachers on Alice and Greenfoot, enabling them to effectively integrate these learning tools into STEM curricula and help students build coding skills. These resources and trainings will also be freely available to teachers worldwide, as part of Oracle Academy’s mission is to advance computer science education globally.

“At Oracle Academy, we are thrilled to team with the Bloodhound Education Programme and bring the excitement of the Bloodhound supersonic car to the 3.5 million students we reach yearly,” said Alison Derbenwick Miller, Oracle Academy Vice President. “We look forward to furthering our collaboration with the Bloodhound Education Programme, and advancing our commitment to prepare students for college and career-readiness in the 21st century.”
